Our Story.

Pennington Community Hub was established during lockdown in January 2021.

It started as a local mobile larder for households on low incomes and those suffering during lockdown.

Join Us for Free:

Today it continues to run a weekly larder and now includes a range of agencies and organisations who meet in the Hall beforehand to provide free advice and support to local residents.

It is supported by the New Forest Basics Bank, with groceries provided by FareShare (Southern Central), and with financial support from both New Forest District Council and Lymington & Pennington Town Council.  We are only financed through grants from local government, commerce and charitable enterprises.  We are a not-for-profit project.

Since 2021 the larder has operated every Thursday between 1200 and 1330 hrs at St Mark’s Community Hall, Pennington.

FareShare has over 300 individual households registered as members of their scheme at the Pennington larder.  Weekly membership attendance has settled to about 25 - 30 households each week and there is scope to cater for up to about 40 households.

The Hub and Larder would not be possible without the wonderful volunteers who come to help for 2 hours each week.  We have about 20 volunteers, of which we expect to see 3 volunteers help in the kitchen, providing free tea, coffee and biscuits, and about 6 volunteers outside in the car park helping to sort the groceries into clients’ trays.  If it’s raining we relocate indoors.
